Data Collection Project:
In 2009, the CCY commissioned Dr. Philip Phoades with the Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi to complete the Data Collection Project. This study provides demographic and statistical information on the risk factors that can impact the health and well-being of our community's youth and families. The risk factors analyzed in Nueces County include:
Socio-economic status of families
Family management stressers
Reported cases of teen pregnancy and STDs
Youth alcohol and drug use facts
Adult alcohol and drug use facts
Education statistics
Understanding these risk factors can help organizations develop prevention and intervention programs, services and partnerships that effectively meet the needs of youth in our community. In addition to program development, this information can be utilized to secure grant funds from state, federal and private grant programs. Read more.
